This session will need between 1-2 hours depending on the group. Students should be able to meet the following objectives: -Identify the five main models of abnormality -Discuss the implications for treatment of each model -Evaluate the models of abnormality They will be able to look in-depth at disorders and treatments which align with the main models. This lesson was inspired by the recent media coverage of Trump's comments to his employees regarding needing to "Dress like a woman'. This has lead to much debate on the news, internet, social media and so is a perfect opportunity to discuss why context matters when constructing an argument for or against an individuals comments, meaning of female and gender stereotyping. This lesson enables students to voice their opinion in a safe environment, use debate skills to argue their viewpoint, research the meaning and context on the internet, discuss media influences on how events have been portrayed. Students activities and extension activities have been included to provide an engaging session. English skills, Equality & Diversity, British Values and Study Skills embedded throughout. Applicable to a wide range of subjects.

This tutorial is based upon CEOP's guidance in order to make young people aware of the dangers of the internet, grooming and sexting. This lesson covers the following objectives: 1. Explain the dangers of Internet safety 2. Identify the laws that help control internet content 3. Use the materials in this presentation to produce a tutorial session on Internet safety. Students will participate in discussion and research-based activities.

This is about 4 hours worth of teacher-led tutorial and student activities on health promotion. Students will cover the following: Healthy/unhealthy/risk taking behaviours Why health promotion is used Organisations on a local and national level which seek to promote health Health Targets Models of Behaviour Change Health Promotion Activities and Techniques Students will build on their research and evaluation skills.

Presentation crammed with icebreakers, team building activities, and activities to introduce students to concepts such as E&;D, employability, policies etc. Some activities designed to enable students to find their way around buildings etc. Therefore, you will need to design a simple clue sheet about your organisation. Can be adapted to meet your organisations needs. This was taught over a full day but can be divided up across tutorial/form tutor time etc.

This lesson was delivered as part of a 1 hour tutorial designed to provide students with a taster of what employability skills, what are employers looking for and to encourage them to start considering what skills they already have. Features teacher prompts and student centred activities. You will need a classroom with computers and internet access for this lesson. Might work well at the start of the year for a taster of what skills students should expect to develop on whatever courses they are studying. Can be made subject specific.

Originally produced for BTEC H&SC, Unit 9, Level 2 but would also be suitable for GCSE. Lesson was delivered in 1.5 hours with objectives as follows: To describe how smoking can effect health To explain why a smoker is at risk of diseases Please note, the quiz I have adapted from elsewhere but all other activities are original. Student activities include a smoking advert analysis, a paired extension activity where students investigate Cannabis, labelling physical and emotional health effects on worksheet provided, producing a warning poster/warning leaflet, starter activity and a range of other activities.

This tutorial which could be delivered over two sessions has been designed with very little teacher input. I originally designed this for a group of personal tutors who had never delivered this topic and were concerned about whether their knowledge was up to date. This puts the onus on the students and is research based. It has been designed in such a way that students should stay on topic and address the tutorial in a sensible manner if groups are planned ahead of time by the teacher delivering the sessions. Smaller groups will work best. Originally designed for Access to Health Professions students, this lesson contains activities and scenarios of a medical/healthcare nature.

LO's Describe what stress is Discuss outside influences on coping with stress State causes of stress Describe a different perspective of stress Discuss the benefits of stress Student activities throughout which are encouraged to help students consider the benefits of stress and how to use it to their advantage. Particularly useful before exams.

Students complete a worksheet with a student they do not usually work with or do not know. Ideal for encouraging students to talk to new people. This has also been used for a starter activity to provoke a discussion about students similarities and differences prior to looking at the 'We are Britain' Poems.

KS2 tutorial following CEOP guidelines for staying safe online and general e-safety.

Lesson Focus: To be able to use psychological theory to explain why misconceptions of disability exist. Some student activities, contentious questions and relevant theory throughout. Originally aimed at Access to HE Learners but would also be appropriate for other courses. You may wish to use additional student focused activities to compliment this.

A handout/worksheet style session designed to remind students of standard and expectations of speculative letter writing/cover letter writing to support their CV when applying for jobs. Will need a accompanying powerpoint to support delivery.

Lesson on road safety aimed at KS1. Could be delivered prior to a practical activity/role play. The aims are to make children more familiar with road signs, staying safe and understanding potential safe/dangerous places to cross.

This was a 1.5 hour tutorial originally produced for FE but would also apply to mature year 9 students and above. The session is mainly discussion based covering bullying, harassment etc. . However, student activities include creating a post it note wall to spark discussion, poster/research activity on cyber bullying and a case study analysis. Students will be working in pairs and small groups. Objectives which could be set might include: Define/Describe what is meant by bullying and harassment, Analyse the Impact that Bullying has on people, Identify support for individuals who are being bullied/harassment.
